INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Due to its viscosity FATBANG should be ideally applied via a backpack/knapsack sprayer. A hand-held sprayer would not have the power to propel the fluid.
Viscosity can vary slightly due to temperature and storage. If the fluid seems a bit thick through the spray nozzle then add up to 50 mls water per litre of FATBANG then shake well to mix. It should have a nice light creamy consistency.
SPRAY A LIGHT COAT ONLY onto the plant at high pressure BEFORE the point of run-off. There is no need to cover the entire plant, just the area at most risk of attack. If ring-barking is frequent and persistent then use our GREASEBANG wipe-on grease.
Best practice is to NOT spray when plants-trees are stressed – and that goes for the application of any spray - so AVOID direct sunlight in hot weather, strong winds and also when the plant has already been sprayed in the last month with any other chemical. Best to spray early morning, evening or in cooler cloudy weather for best results. The target seedling should be in good shape, hydrated and relatively stress-free when FATBANG is applied! FATBANG is rainfast when it dries, but if rain is due then hold off for dry conditions.
Coverage is based on 20mls per standalone planted seedling, so our FB200 container with 4L of repellent will cover 200 seedlings. For pre-planting treatment where the seedlings are in a bulk box or bag then this pack will cover 1000 seedlings.
FATBANG can be applied when the seedlings are in a bulk pack, the fluid will go a lot further. Just spray the tops and let it dry before planting otherwise it will be a bit greasy when handling.
FATBANG will NOT harm most plants. We have tested on numerous common shelter-belt tree seeding varieties, broad-leafs, conifers, eucalypts, natives, deciduous trees, grasses, etc with few issues. However, because there are thousands of plants-trees-shrubs-grasses-ornamentals
out there we cannot test them all so if in doubt just trial spray a small area and wait a week to see if any problems. Always avoid flowers, delicate plants or bipinnate foliage like ferns. Puka's can be a bit sensitive due to the large leaf size so be cautious and perhaps trial a small part of the tree first.
Do not spray onto edible crops or plants as the taste will be unpalatable.
FATBANG only needs to be applied once per 4-6 months. LEAVE FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE NEXT SPRAY!
For shiny waxy leaves it can be difficult to achieve a smooth uniform coat as the fluid will tend to slide off to the leave margins. This is perfectly ok as the smell and texture of the fat will still deter the pest.
Quantities are based on 20ml per 300mm stand-alone planted tree seedling, so a 4L container will cover around 200 planted seedlings, whereas the 9L container will cover around 450 planted seedlings.
SPRAY VERY LIGHTLY. LESS IS MORE!
STORAGE AND CARE
Keep stored in a cool place out of sunlight.
Do not mix with any other liquid.
Do not ingest the fluid.
Do not store where children may reach.
There is no real expiry date, however if storing for long periods then give it a decent shake-up every 60 days or so to keep it emulsified and ready for use.
